Women in Exhibitions at the EXHIBITOR2010 show

This month I traveled to Las Vegas for 2 conferences, The Event Solutions show and the EXHIBITOR2010 show.

I drove through Joshua Tree National Park to arrive in Las Vegas just in time for the EXHIBITOR2010 show. This is one of the most well attended shows for exhibit / trade show /events professionals. The show is well organized with tons of education, networking and both seasoned and new industry professionals.

I administer, host and run an informal group called Women in Exhibitions (I think of my self as the Figure Head of WiE – go figure). We meet 4 times a year at exhibit shows. This year’s attendance of 40 included buyers, sellers and managers. Our open roundtable discussion began on “what can we do to make the trade show a great experience for the attendee” we had a great discussion that included tips like :

• Build a great experience – people will remember that
• Ask your attendees/clients what they want. Don’t assume you know – try to give it to them – this is both before, during and after!
• Train your booth staff especially if they are hired for the show only (don’t skimp here – you paid a lot of money to show – make sure your staff knows your product or service and the message you are trying to convey)
• Be clear in your message
• Follow up! DO what you said you would do – build trust and reliability – yes on mass emails but also have individual personal contact
• Don’t forget the telephone – it is a great tool!
• Make sure your booth represents your product/service in a quick and easy glance.

ALSO – you can read about it in Exhibit City News

What can you add?

What are you doing for yourself in the New Year was another question posed and the answers included things like:

• Exercising – zoomba classes, spin classes and the Wii !
• Relaxing!
• Focusing and Organizing
• using iphone programs to watch what you eat

I know there was more. What else?

Please Do join in. Everyone’s point of view is interesting!
