Brooklyn Children’s Museum Gala 2012

On May 8th, the Brooklyn Children’s Museum hosted their annual Awards Gala, which was held on the 45th floor of 7 World Trade Center. The event celebrated the museum’s 113 years as a “leader in education, environmental stewardship, and community building.” The theme for the evening’s ceremonies was “Healthy Communities = Healthy Children” and featured an indoor market place consisting of local businesses.

Pink Powered by Moss sponsored by bringing a little bit more green into this market place by placing different fabric structure rental products from our Garden Line throughout the site. Colorful Daisies flanked the bar area while our Multi-colored Money Trees could be found on the perimeter of the floor, overlooking the World Trade Center site.

While there was much to celebrate at the event itself, some of the neighbors in the World Trade Center had it’s own milestone to celebrate as well. Recently, the Freedom Tower, just became the tallest building in New York, surpassing the Empire State Building, which held that honor for just over a decade since the Twin Towers were destroyed in 9/11. The footprints of those towers; which now feature cascading waterfalls as part of the memorial, could also be seen below.

PiNK on Ice!

It may be warming up outside, but that didn’t stop us from going to the skating rink a few weeks ago for the Skating Club of Boston’s annual Ice Chips festival which showcases sine if the best-known names in figure skating from around the globe! This year marked the 100th anniversary of Ice Chips and the Skating Club of Boston wanted to make this edition very special. A dazzling display of colors and lights joined the skaters on the ice as well as the fabric decor that we provided on one end of the rink which served as entryway as well as projection surfaces.

A 90′ stretch of rental products, including Crescents, Continental Divides, Wave Walls, and a 12′ Moon in the center, were on the rink – all dressed in stark white fabric. The combination of lights and reflections off of the ice, made for quite the spectacle; see for yourself:

Do you know about DIFFA?

Each year, in many regions DIFFA (Design Industries Foundation Fighting AIDS) creates a great fund-raising event called Dining by Design. Participants (often companies) pair up with Designers to build a 10′ x 10′ or 10′ x 20′ dining space. The vignettes are looked at, photographed, cocktailed around and finally EATEN on!

It is always terrific to see all kinds of solutions AND a great way to raise money for a worthy cause!

The 2011 NY edition was held in March as part of the Architectural Digest – Home Show at Pier 94.

Needless to say, Great ideas and Great Designs from many designers including: David Stark paired with Benjamin Moore Paint, David Beahm, Jes Gordon, Ralph Lauren, Kravet, Architectural Digest, The Coca-Cola Company, David Rockwell (Rockwell Group) and students at Pratt mentored by some of the best designers in the biz!

In its third year, DIFFA (Design Industries Foundation Fighting AIDS) out on a remarkable show. Last year’s event (see “2010 DIFFA Dining by Design“) showcased good designs, but nothing like this. In fact, we think its safe to say that DIFFA’s DbD stole the show at the 2011 Architectural Digest Home Design Show. Why We Liked It Practically every participant stepped it up this year with innovative interpretations of “the dining room.” There were a few who were a little bland (shockingly a design school), but overall, everyone did a phenomenal job. Attendees were immediately introduced to Benjamin Moore’s vignette of wonders. Using two dimensional elements mixed with joyous color, Benjamin Moore created a dining room fantasy. Not too far away was Ralph Lauren Home’s recreation of a sophisticate patio. This installation stirred up memories of intimate dining under the stars. From the strung lights to the neutral palette, Ralph Lauren Home brought luxury back to the table. Design students from FIT and Pratt should pat themselves on the back for their designs. Both institutes stepped away from common table stylings and instead, created a storyline. Playing with height and dimension, the end result was pure fantasy. Unfortunately, there were too many table installation to highlight. Honorable mentions go to Kravet, Architectural Digest, The Coca-Cola Company, and David Rockwell (Rockwell Group). The 2011 DIFFA Dining by Design was truly a wonderful event that featured amazing table designs.

CANSTRUCTION – The Creative Fight Against Hunger!

This week 25 teams of architects and engineers transformed over 100,000 full cans of food into vibrant 3-D structures. This free exhibit has turned the Winter Garden at the World Financial Center in Battery Park City into a massive Pop Art gallery and is on display and really pushes the limits of what you can create with such every-day objects. This exhibit is CANSTRUCTION!

From mosaic Mario’s and graffiti walls, to scaled versions of the Standard Hotel and Highline, we find a very wide range of subjects here. And after the show closes on November 22nd, the sculptures will be dismantled and donated to City Harvest to be distributed to feed hungry New Yorkers just in time for Thanksgiving. Go out and see this exhibit while you CAN!

Giant Flower Bouquet for Macy’s GLAMORAMA!

Pink Powered by Moss just recently built this great Flower Bouquet for the Glamorama event at Macy’s Marshall Field. I really want to show off one of our first original sculptures that we designed and built for the event. The team in Chicago is doing a great job!

Then I jumped in to learn about GLAMORAMA and I found a fundraising fashion event with lots more CELEBRITIES! While I haven’t exactly been looking for the gigs with STARS but they seem to find us this summer. That said – the event kicked into high gear showcasing fall fashion by Issey Miyake, Hugo Boss, Roberto Cavalli also including Marc Jacobs and Jean Paul Gaultier among others. A highlight was the Material Girl Collection, a line by Madonna and her daughter, Lourdes. Macy’s Glamorama event benefited The Ronald McDonald House and featured Grammy award-winning singer, Macy Gray.

Celebrities walk thru our ARCHES at Super Saturday!

Many stars walked through our Arches at Super Saturday 13! Edie Falco, Christie Brinkley and Christy Turlington were there. Kelly Ripa, Rudy Guiliani and Judith Nathan and of course Donna Karan all made appearances. There was Ashley Greene, Kris Jenner, Rachel Zoe, Khloe Kardashian, and Kim Kardashian (in fact the whole Kardashian Gang). Nicole Miller and Gayle King were there too! InStyle, Betsy Johnson and Fern Mallis also took part.

Why you ask? Everyone who walked through PiNK Powered by Moss Arches were at Super Saturday and there to shop to benefit the Ovarian Cancer Research Foundation OCRF. This star-studded event attracts the celebrities and elite of the Hampton’s who all come to shop at a gigantic designer garage sale! All funds are donated directly to the OCRF! And for those who could not shop with us live, you could watch and buy on TV with QVC.

Our Fabric Sculptures were not only the entry to the Super Saturday grounds at Nova’s Ark Project in Water Mill, we also provided interesting overhead tension fabric structures at the main bar and our tensioned fabric sculpture, Fruit Salad provided shade in the picnic lunch area.

We all thank Donna Karan and all of the fabulous sponsors and designers that donated merchandise and energy to the event. There were many – DKNY, InStyle, Lacoste, Reebok, Calvin Klein to name a few! A special thanks to producer Mark Addison • EVENTSTYLE and his team for seamlessly running this large-scale event making it smooth sailing (for the last 9 years!)

And I just heard the Newsflash: Super Saturday 13 – 2010 raised over $3.4million for OCRF charity!!!! Now that IS really great NEWS!

Pink Inc’s Circle Surround made a sweet photo backdrop for last week’s 140Sweets charity fundraiser!

“This year 140Sweets is supporting the nation’s largest autism science and advocacy organization, Autism Speaks. On Tuesday, May 4, 140Sweets held an event at Connolly’s Pub in NYC . All proceeds benefitted Autism Speaks.”

UJA “Generosity” Event

“Generosity” was the fund raising theme of UJA’s division and event at The Lighthouse. Technology and projection was the feature with Sophist Productions Text-to-Pledge and Pink Inc.’s rental décor – The Flexi-Tunnel in conjunction with our WOW Screens, lined the entire event space creating lighting surfaces everywhere!

Stratton Mountain School Fundraiser 2010!
