Event Camp 2010 was quite a success
The best part was meeting all the #Eventprofs
Ok, so what is #eventprofs you ask? Well, I think around a year ago many of us Event folks curious about social media found Twitter. And there we were all looking for other like minded people when we all discovered #eventprofs. In twitter the hashtag lets you follow the thread of discussions and Lara McCulloch (@ready2spark) founded the name and set up 2x’s a week chats. We all found our way into this community and over the past year we have interacted online. The idea of Event Camp was born out of our community relationships and Christina Coster (@mizcity), Jeff Hurt (@jeffhurt), Mike McAllen (@mmcallen), Mike McCurry (@MichaelMcCurry) and Jessica Levin (@JessicaLevin) worked to put together a program and un-conference during Social Media week in NYC. About 70 of us – many from the online #eventprofs community met in NYC. Just to let you know social media WORKS – as you can ask any of us how exciting it is to meet face to face with people that connected through comments and contributions to our community. Because all you have to do to join is to participate, all new comers are welcome with open arms!
Our conference content was fresh and interesting, much of it peer generated. Discussions, talks and panels all spoke to the topics of live events and social media, how they work together. Enhance one another. We were of course preaching to the choir (in most cases) and Event Camp was quite stimulating for all of us. We had additional audience that participated virtually and you can watch our event (I will find out for you!) and our twitter feed is archived as well.
My favorite little story is in the end Christina Stallings – (@MsStallings) (came to event camp by being “sponsored” by the group) and she sent exactly 140 tweets during the event which was very fitting for the fact that each tweet is no more then 140 characters!
Many of the participants are writing about the event and here are a few of the links that I have spotted.
Enjoy!

Thanks for the link to the list of #EC10 BlogPosts. Hopefully that gives people a nice rounded view of the event.
Everyone should also know about all the great chats that are out there beyond #eventprofs. While being a tight tribe is a great thing, we also want to connect with the other tribes to share info and find opportunities. Awesome post and it was so awesome to finally meet you in person. I had no idea that I did 140 tweets during EventCamp?? What a crazy and perfect coincidence!
Thank you again for everything. It was such a pleasure to meet you in person.
