I am happy to be newly back from TSE 2012 – The Special Event 2012 in Tampa, Florida.  I have lots of thoughts and experiences so I will present a series of posts. Welcome to the first!

REthink REPink Powered by Moss booth and lobby installation Reconfigured

Pink Powered by Moss booth – When our creative team came together we created a campaign based on the mood of the times that we reflected as RE. REdefine REignite, REfresh, REthink, REPink! So REconfiguring our booth was of utmost importance with REconfigurable products. The time today requires us to REnew, REinspire, REcharge and the more we played with RE; the more fun we had!

Graphics enhanced our color identifying booth with a giveaway of 8 assorted pink campaign type buttons for you pinning pleasure (you have heard of Pinterest by now; havent’ you?) and our REshuffle ipod shuffle giveaway was fun.  We had a winner each day, and we still have more iPods to giveaway in our REshuffle iPod shuffle giveaway so stay tuned!!!

So below, see our booth REconfigured three different ways.  Our décor was REarranged each couple of hours out in the lobby, thank you Jesse Zryb for REvitalizing the lobby and documenting The Special Event 2012 for us.

On Tuesday, November 28th, we received a request from Madoff Productions for a 30′ Circle Surround backdrop to  be used the following day for CBS’s Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show Pre-Show. With only 1 day notice, we were able to provide a simple yet elegant backdrop that was seen across the world – just another example of a creative fabric solution from Pink Powered by Moss!

On Monday night November 21^st many of the events community gathered at Center 548 to the AFR Networker NYC! Several events professionals added their expertise to make this event fun, beautiful and successful!

From Neuman’s unique food – many “spoons” of full meals – like brunch, turkey dinner and encapsulated miso soup to Nancy Swiezy Event’s flowers and treatments creating unique area’s and the music from New York’s Best, photography by Treasured Memories and of course a great cross section of AFR’s event rental furniture line.

The space at Center 548 was truly a unique loft like space of several floors and a roof area.  The impressive elevator can carry a car up to any floor and it was unique to ride in it as it was set as a lounge environment!

Of course we were there, Pink Powered by Moss and please do view below, our tension fabric entry and backdrops that were used throughout the space and other photos.

A great time was had by all and to all a Very Happy Holiday Season and today – a very Happy Thanksgiving!

We just got news that we won IFAI’s (Industrial Fabrics Association International) Outstanding Achievement Award for Interior Display for our Powerstation booth! This booth made it’s first appearance at The Special Event in Phoenix, AZ before being re-branded for the Exhibitor show in Las Vegas, NV. You can read more about the booth in our blog posts from each trade show. We’d also like to congratulate our team for bringing in an Award of Excellence for the 2010 MTV Music Video Awards in the same category!

Pink Powered by Moss wins IFAI 2011 International Achievement Award

(Roseville, MN – Oct. 26, 2011) Pink Powered by Moss, New York, NY, was recognized with the 2011 International Achievement Award (IAA) for design excellence in specialty fabrics applications. The ceremony took place at the IFAI Expo Americas 2011 at the Baltimore Convention Center in Baltimore, Md. on October 25.

Pink Powered by Moss received an Outstanding Achievement Award for its Powerstation project. The project was recognized in the competition’s Interior Display category.

The annual IFAI Expo Americas is the largest specialty fabrics trade show in the Americas, and for more than six decades, IAA has recognized excellence in design and innovation, highlighting truly spectacular work in the specialty fabrics industry.

Entrants were encouraged to submit projects and compete in 35 categories in this 64^th competition. In all, IFAI received 385 entries from 16 countries. Entries were judged by industry experts, editors, architects, educators and design professionals, who were selected for their knowledge in a particular field of study or product area. Winners were selected based on complexity, design, workmanship, uniqueness and function.

IFAI encourages specialty fabric projects of all sizes and type. The goal of IAA is to promote awareness of the specialty fabrics used in thousands of products and applications. All entries receive prominent recognition at IFAI Expo Americas. Entrants receive additional publicity through coverage in IFAI magazines, as well as press releases distributed to media professionals.

The International Achievement Awards competition is sponsored by IFAI, a not-for-profit trade association whose 2,000 member companies represent the international specialty fabrics marketplace.

This fall at the Pink Powered by Moss booth at the LDI Show at the Orange County Convention Center in Orlando we took a different approach.  We approached the show as a tool for market research. Under that umbrella, we present the Wave Forms. These 4’ x 4’ units stack to create a textural backdrop, wall, ceiling treatments and towers.  Arrange the Wave Forms in different configurations to create dynamic textures.  Take a look and let us know what YOU think!

The 2011 edition of the New York’s BizBash Expo & Awards was held last week on October 19th at the Javits Center and Pink could be found in several places on the show floor. In addition to having our own booth we also provided Circle Surround backdrops for ISES New York as well as the Event Leadership Institute. These portable configurations of 2′ Moons serve as a great backdrop for show booths and are well-suited towards getting your message across in a fashionable manner. Over at our own booth we used each 2′ moon to show off our portfolio. The moons were fixed to the frames from 3 15′ segments of Ribbonesque creating a dynamic back wall that expresses movement. We also placed a fully dressed ribbon on top for bold  signage. Another product on the floor this year that was receiving a lot of attention was the JuiceBar, which was also nominated for Best New Product. As the show went on and people were finding their phones drained from a day away from the office; clusters began to form around the JuiceBar, which serves as a charging station for mobile and other electronic devices as well as providing elegant signage at 8′-6″ tall.

The installation began with projection surfaces integrating into the existing playground poles, creating a corridor. As the installation came along, we worked with Chikaia and created the textures on site using several different methods to otherwise ordinary fabric. Once the sun set and our lights were in place it was showtime. The installation was a huge hit for those who came out to Bring to Light Festival in Green Point, and it was great seeing all of the different ways that people would interact making this a true sculptural performance environment. Groups gathered on the side of the fabric opposite the light source watching live projection theater provided by eager participants.  Many people even came around multiple times finding different props to add intrigue to their moment in the spotlight. Shadows

This past Spring, we were called upon by the folks at Nalu Creative to help create a nautical themed event. And what better setting could there be for such an event than the Atlantis Paradise Island Resort in the Bahamas.

This event was located in the vast 50,000 square foot Imperial Ballroom. In order to achieve an underwater feel; we chose to divide our products into clusters that were spaced throughout the room. These clusters were formed exclusively from our rental inventory combining pieces from our Garden Series and Sea Creatures in order to achieve this look. Fish and Jellyfish were suspended overhead along with Vines and DNA that gave off the effect of aquatic plant-life and helped tie the room together.

Last week, Event Camp Twin Cities was held at the McNamara Alumni Center at the University of Minnesota in Minneapolis. Event Camp can be described as an innovation lab for meetings and events that we will review in further detail soon, but for now we wanted to show some pictures from the event which we provided much of the decor for. The building itself provided quite the backdrop; designed by Antoine Predock and completed in 2000, with a six-story open space and walls set at all different angles that are intersected by slices of windows casting dynamic shadows below.

Our fabric structures naturally sorted themselves out in the space and defined several different areas. For the registration desk, we used 4 Colonnades to provide a presence. The stage was backed by a 20′ long Circle Surround that the speakers presented above. To the side of the stage, you can find 4 25′ long ribbons, all in different configurations illustrating the different possibilities found within our Ribbonesque line. When the Latin music workout/lifestyle phenomenon Zumba was planning to produce their 10th Anniversary Instructors Convention, they were determined to find that extra special decorative element that would not only reinforce their brand identity but would serve to add a visual excitement and extra energy to the festivities.

When Zumba producer Jonathan Perlman first met with the Pink team in Orlando in March, he knew instantly that he had found the right decorative design company – everyone shared the same fun vibe and artistic sensibility. This was made especially clear when Pink presented its initial design proposals to the delight of Zumba’s creative team. Clearly, a synergy was formed and a creative relationship was born – one that promises an exiting future of collaboration.

The presence, power and extra-large scale of Pink’s fabric structures along with the integration of Zumba’s colors into unique designs made these two companies a perfect match.

An unexpected challenge was the rigging limitations imposed by the Peabody Hotel, Orlando. Having recently opened a new wing to accommodate such massive conventions like Zumba, the Peabody was being particularly protective, perhaps rightly so, of their huge scale ballroom area. Pink designs became a perfect solution for the cavernous grand foyer – serving as visual landmarks – which featured a series of modified Moss Event Arches – 30’ wide x 20’high with specially modified Pink signature Turning Birds. Together, these elements delineated the main thoroughfare and afforded a visual excitement to an otherwise uninvolved space where the wildly enthusiastic 6500 attendees passed through.

The highly caffeinated event turned out to be a huge success with thousands of Zumba fanatics buying millions of dollars of merchandise in a frenzied atmosphere all bolstered by the extra added visual excitement of Pink products. The client was thrilled.
